If you've found this page while searching for Bristol Rum School, the Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery, a rum tasting in Bristol or a rum-making experience, there's an important update: Bristol Rum School and the Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery on Park Street have now permanently closed.
But Bristol is still distilling.
Bristol Dry Gin is an independent, award-winning micro-distillery in the heart of Bristol, based inside The Rummer on All Saints Lane, beside St Nicholas Market. We make small-batch gin, vodka and rum here in Bristol, and our distillers host regular tasting experiences just upstairs from the stills.
Looking for a Bristol Rum School alternative?
Come and meet the people who actually make the spirits. Our regular Bristol tasting experiences are hosted by our distillers and include a gin & tonic followed by five different gins.
Has Bristol Rum School closed?
Yes. Bristol Rum School and the Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery on Park Street have permanently closed.
They were part of Bristol's independent drinks scene and introduced plenty of people to rum through tastings, masterclasses and rum-making experiences.
If you've landed here because you were planning a visit, searching for an old voucher, or simply looking for a Bristol Rum School alternative, there are still independent distillers making spirits and running tasting experiences right here in the city.
Meet Bristol Dry Gin
We're a little different.
Bristol Dry Gin is a working micro-distillery in Bristol city centre. We started in 2017 when two inquisitive cocktail bartenders decided they wanted to make the sort of spirits they'd be proud to put behind their own bar.
That experiment got slightly out of hand.
Today our recipe book contains dozens of creations, ranging from classic dry gin and fruit gins to high-strength spirits, vodka, rum and some considerably stranger experiments along the way.
Our home is underneath The Rummer, in the vaulted basement of a historic building on All Saints Lane. Our tasting room is upstairs and our stills are downstairs.
So when one of our distillers tells you how a spirit was made, there's a reasonable chance they actually made it.

Gin tasting in Bristol – hosted by our distillers
If what you really wanted was a spirit tasting or distillery experience in Bristol, our regular gin tastings run every week at our city-centre distillery.
They're relaxed rather than stuffy and are designed to be just as enjoyable for someone trying craft gin for the first time as they are for committed gin enthusiasts.
You'll start with a beautifully garnished gin & tonic before tasting five different gins. One of our distillers will take you through the history of gin, how it's produced, the botanicals that create different flavours, and some of the stranger stories behind the spirit.
Most importantly, there are plenty of opportunities to ask questions of somebody who actually works in a distillery.
Our regular mixed tastings welcome individuals, couples and small groups, and private tastings can also be arranged.
Looking for a rum tasting in Bristol?
Despite our name, gin isn't the only spirit we make.
Rum has been part of our range for years. Our Bristol Honey Rum combines rum with honey and vanilla and is produced as part of our range here in Bristol.
So if you originally came looking for Bristol Rum School, a rum tasting in Bristol, rum masterclass or rum experience, you're definitely not speaking to the wrong people.
Following the closure of Bristol Rum School, we're also interested in hearing from people looking specifically for rum experiences. We're distillers, we make rum, we have a tasting room, and we're always interested in an excuse to get experimental.

A working distillery in the middle of Bristol
One of the slightly unusual things about Bristol Dry Gin is where you'll find us.
We're not hidden on an industrial estate outside the city. Our micro-distillery sits underneath The Rummer, just off Corn Street and beside St Nicholas Market in the heart of Bristol's Old City.
Our spirits are made in small batches here in Bristol, and we've also invested heavily in reducing the environmental impact of making them. Our distillery uses renewable energy alongside our own rooftop solar generation.

A Bristol gin tasting voucher gives the recipient a place on one of our in-house tastings at The Rummer, including a gin & tonic and five gin samples.
It's a particularly good present for someone who already owns enough stuff but remains mysteriously capable of finding room for another drink.

Bristol's independent distilling scene continues
We're always sorry to see another independent drinks business disappear. Bristol Rum School and the Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery helped introduce people to rum, distilling and the enormous variety that exists beyond the familiar bottles on a supermarket shelf.
But spirits are still being distilled right here in central Bristol.
We're still making them. We're still experimenting with them. And we're still inviting people upstairs to taste them.
So whether you arrived here searching for Bristol Rum School, Bristol and Bath Rum Distillery, rum tasting Bristol, gin tasting Bristol or a distillery experience in Bristol, come and discover what we're doing.
The stills are very much still running.
